PAMM Investor FAQs

1. What is a Managed Account? How do I open one?

ForexTime is proud to offer its clients the PAMM Account, an investment tool which forms a partnership between investors and a professional Forex trader. Individual investors can connect to a Manager’s (the experienced Forex trader’s) PAMM Account and start earning money on the Forex market.

Here is how it works:

  1. An experienced trader (the PAMM Account Manager) opens up a PAMM Account.
  2. The Manager creates a Proposal, in which he lists the conditions of the PAMM Account.
  3. Investors join a Manager's PAMM Account by opening up their own individual Managed Accounts (which represent their share in the PAMM Account as a whole).
  4. The Manager conducts all trading on the PAMM Account. The profits earned are divided up among the Manager and the Investors, based on their level of investment in the account.

The term, “PAMM Account”, describes the combination of the Manager’s Managed Account (which includes both the Manager’s Capital and the private investment of the Manager) and the Managed Accounts of the Investors. Although a PAMM Account may be made up of one or several Managed Accounts, it is traded much like an ordinary trading account.

To open up a Managed Account with a particular PAMM Manager, you will need to accept the terms offered by the Manager in their Proposal. Investors are free to invest in any PAMM Account with a “public” Proposal.

You can only make a deposit to a Managed Account after following the steps below:

4. What is an investor's trading statement?

Trading statements keep track of the Manager’s transactions on a Managed Account.

In myForexTime, PAMM Account Investors can view their trading statements by clicking on the "PAMM Investors" tab, going to the “Managed Accounts” page, choosing their Managed Account and clicking on the "Statements" tab. Here they will find information about the trading operations completed by the Manager on the Managed Account.

In "Calculations", Investors can view a complete history of the changes in the balance, equity and "Share Count" on their PAMM Account (as can be found in the PAMM Account Monitoring).

The data in the "Detailed Trading Statement" section corresponds with the trading statements found in the Manager's trading platform. However, the trading volume in the Investor’s trading statement will be proportionally smaller than the trading volume of the PAMM Account as a whole, based on the Investor’s share in the PAMM Account.

During PAMM Account rollover, positions on Managed Accounts will be reopened, however this will not take place for PAMM Accounts on the trading platform. During the transition to the next trading hour, all open positions on the Manager’s trading platform will be shown on the Investor’s trading statement as positions closed at the last quote of the previous trading hour. These positions will be recorded in the Investor’s statement as having been opened at the start of the next trading hour at the same quote at which they were closed. The order numbers, however, will remain unchanged.

Attention:
Managers can set an “Undisclosed Period” for Investors, which establishes a delay for viewing information about the their trading on the PAMM Account. After the delay (i.e. 1 day), Investors will be able to view the updated trading statements. This is designed to protect the Manager from having their trades copied.

7. How do I set up an automatic request to close my Managed Account?

Investors are able to set the level of the maximum acceptable loss on their Managed Account. After making a deposit to their Managed Account, an investor can choose the minimum acceptable level for the “Share Price” or “Rate of Return” in the PAMM Account Monitoring and choose the action to be taken when this level is reached. They may choose to either:

  • Submit a request to automatically close the Managed Account; or
  • Send a notice by email / SMS.

How do I set up this option?

  1. Log in to myForexTime.
  2. Click on the "PAMM Investors" tab and go to "Managed Accounts". Select your account.
  3. Select “Deposit / Withdraw Funds” in the managed account window.
  4. Select “Stop Loss Level” and choose your desired levels for “Share Price” and / or “Rate of Return”.
  5. Click “Set limit”.

If the “Share Price” or “Rate of Return” in the PAMM Account Monitoring falls below the level you entered, your account will either be closed automatically, or an email / SMS will be sent to warn you (depending on the options you selected).

For example: When the "Share Price" / "Rate of Return" is 200.00 / 100.00, a Stop Loss will be triggered at 199.99 / 99.99.

Attention:
An automatic request to close a Managed Account can not be canceled.
